How this is calculated
The total day count is the plain difference between your two dates. The years/months/days breakdown counts whole calendar months first, using the actual number of days in each month, not a flat assumption of 30, then whatever's left over becomes the days figure. When a date like January 31st doesn't have an equivalent in a shorter month, the calculation clamps to that month's last valid day, the same convention most calendar software uses.
